ASRY Donates $50,000 to IMO Fund

MANAMA: ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, has donated $50,000 to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) International Search and Rescue Trust Fund. The purpose of the Trust Fund is to improve maritime search and rescue capabilities to locate and rescue persons at sea in what has always been one of the world’s most dangerous professions.

The donation took place during the recent Seatrade Global Awards Ceremony held in Guidhall, London. The event honors the global leaders in the shipping industry and provided the ideal platform for ASRY to demonstrate its commitment and support of the safety and security of persons.

ASRY Chairman, Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Al Khalifa, said at the cheque handover: “As the leading shipyard in the Arabian Gulf, ASRY is dedicated to the security and safety of all persons at sea. Shipping can be one of the most dangerous professions in the world and we hope this donation helps to reduce the risks involved in seafaring, helps the delivery of priority activities and projects on maritime search and rescue, and helps make the seas as safe and secure as possible.”
